Study Area, General Theme and Topics

The study area of the second edition of the IP in Lille remained the Metropolitan are of Lille, in the context of the North-Pas de Calais region. The theme was again ‘Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing: a metropolitan region in the central periphery of the European Community’ and the focus was on the restructuring of Lille as a service and transportation node in the context of the broader industrial region. Four topics were selected: a) Industrial restructuring and transnational corporations; b) Lille as a service metropolis; c) Spatial planning and transportation; d) Metropolitan innovation policy.
