Study Area, General Theme and Topics

The study area of this IP was the metropolitan area of Bilbao. The theme/title of the IP was ‘Urban Change and Revitalization in Metropolitan Bilbao: Challenges for an Old Industrial Region’. Three topics were identified: a) Industrial restructuring and regional transformation: the changing role of Bilbao; b) Metropolitan innovation and re-industrialization policies; c) Urban revitalization: shaping the future of a new metropolis.
