Applying to the International Module

In this section you will find all the information you may require for applying to the Intensive Programme.

  •  Post‐graduate students (Ph.D. and II level Master) and other academic fellows (Post‐Doctoral and Research fellows). A limited number of scholarships could be allocated to outstanding students currently registered as master students and/or with a bachelor degree of 5 years.
  •  Practitioners (professionals and civil servants) who wish to improve their research capabilities.

 

For applicants whose first language is not English, IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 575 (Paper Based – PBT)/ TOEFL 233 (Computer Based – CBT)/TOEFL 90 (Internet Based – iBT) or sufficient proof of language proficiency is required.

The International Module is a postgraduate course. If  certain requirements are met, a KU Leuven Post-graduate Certificate is conferred (https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/opleidingen/e/CQ_51671701.htm).

For the programme starting in 2019, the deadline for applications is 23rd of November 2018.

Detailed information about contents and timing of the programme  (i.e. the Programme Handbook and the Calendar of the oncoming programme ) are available at the ESDP website Download section. The information is generally posted around December of each year.

The programme starts at the beginning of March, each year.

The programme  runs over a three (3) month  period.

The IMSDP is open to:

     A. Candidates registered at Universities that are partners of the ESDP network.

     B. KU Leuven students.

     C. VLIR-UOS supported participants.

     D. Other candidates.

When applying, all candidates should include the following attachments:

  1. A short motivation letter.
  2. An abstract of their research (1 page).
  3. CV.
  4. A reference letter.
  5. Proof of English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 575 (paper based – PBT)/TOEFL 233 (computer based – CBT)/ TOEFL 90 (iBT).

After selection, candidates will receive instructions for official registration.

Fees are waived for KU Leuven, ESDP network exchange students and VLIR-UOS supported participants. For other students the tuition fee is: 1750 € (fees may be subject to minor variations). Exchange students wishing to obtain the Certificate must pay the tuition fee (see https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/opleidingen/e/CQ_51671701.htm).

Successful completion of the programme and positive course assessment by the supervisors leads to the award of 30 ECTS credits. The course and research work covered by this certificate can be fully validated within a Ph.D. study programme.
